Business Development Manager (South)

Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for devising a sales strategy in the agreed area to achieve growth as required by the business plan. The role requires an in depth understanding of the company’s products, services and capabilities and identifies a strategy to extract the maximum value from the market.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: –

 Strategic planning

  • Research and identify current opportunity areas considering service, geography, value and competition.
  • Research and identify current weakness areas considering service, geography and product.
  • Devise strategic sales plan to capitalise on opportunities, address weaknesses and deliver growth in accordance with the long-range business plan.
  • Work closely with Marketing Manager to ensure alignment between sales and marketing, ensuring maximum value is being extracted from annual marketing spend.
  • Where there are new products being released, these are to be introduced to existing Customers and used to introduce new Customers to the Business.


  • Report on all KPI requirements with Line Manager.
  • Map out current sales processes identify current recorded data and assess fitness for purpose.
  • Where information is missing, devise methods of recording it and verify.
  • Ensure all agreed sales KPI data is regularly provided to your Line Manager as part of an overall company performance for monthly Sales Meetings.
  • Provide regular feedback on the market and competitor intelligence.


  • Ensure all procedural documentation is created/stored within a suitable file structure and that suitable company templates are used.
  • Ensure documents are controlled and that the system is regularly audited.


Continuous Improvement

  • From data collected on sales performance and field experience identify and highlight areas where improvements can be made.
  • Take an active role is making business improvements.
  • Regularly audit sales systems in line with company QC policy to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

HSE + Training

  • Ensure all work conducted is in accordance with good HSE practice.

Experience and understanding of glazing system technical features

Experience and understanding of UK construction market

Mechanically competent

Excellent planning and organisational skills

Attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals

High level of computer literacy

Understanding of business systems

Understanding of volume production

    The Role

    Currently a small IT team leveraging third parties, we are looking to bring in-house the development, transformation and support of new and existing solutions, integrating them with existing and off-the-shelf solutions where appropriate.

    To achieve this we are looking for an experienced application and systems developer, the role could also suit a less experienced developer who is keen to grow and broaden their skill set. More importantly we are looking for someone who is eager to expand and deepen their IT skills by playing a key role in the general development of Information Services across the business.


    • Develop and support in-house applications
    • Understand business needs and how they translate into system requirements
    • Understand and support the web implementation environment
    • Work with business and third parties to develop and integrate applications
    • Support and maintain data and databases (SQL)
    • Support the identification and development of appropriate tooling
    • Take ownership and have a ‘can do’ attitude



    • Good coding skills
    • Analytical and problem-solving approach
    • Good interpersonal and customer skills
    • Good general IT, communication, and prioritisation skills
    • Experience with most or all of the following:

      • PHP
      • VB/VBA
      • SQL
      • LAMP stack
      • JSON

    Preferred, but not essential 

      • Agile (Scrum) methodology
      • Systems integration
      • API development experience
      • Microservices approach
      • Experience with any of the below would be beneficial:
        • Web development
        • Laravel or similar framework
        • Git

        • PowerBI
