QHSE & Compliance Advisor / HSE Coordinator

Job Summary:

Made for Trade is a multi-award-winning company and one of the largest fabricators of aluminium glazing systems in the UK. With 3 sites across Teesside.  Due to year-on-year growth and factory expansion we are looking for an ambitious HSE and compliance Co-ordinator to join the team at our Head Office based in Wynyard, on a full time, permanent basis.

The Quality Health Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations and standards within the organization. This position involves coordination, monitoring, and improvement of QHSE processes to promote a culture of excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:

  • Develop, review, and update HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and environmental impact assessments to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with fire regulations through regular audits.
  • Maintain compliance with Safety aspects such as Legionella, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, HAVs.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the company is kept up to date with UK regulations related to quality, health, safety, and environment.
  • Ensure that the organization maintains compliance with relevant legal requirements and industry standards.

 

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to QHSE activities, including incident reports, risk assessments, and compliance records.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders as required.

 

Supplier and Contractor Management:

  • Evaluate and monitor the QHSE performance of suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure that external vendors comply with QHSE requirements and standards.

 

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver QHSE training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders to raise awareness and enhance competencies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental awareness throughout the organization.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the QHSE management system.
  • Implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and environmental performance.

 

Quality Management:

  • Maintain a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and industry-specific quality frameworks.
  • Monitor and evaluate quality performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate internal and external quality audits and follow up on corrective actions.

 

Main Duties

The main focus of the role is HSE and the main duties are as follows:

  • Ensure contractors RAMS, Insurance & H&S policies are up to date.
    Preparing QHSE documentation and reports by collating data for analysis; summarise information and review trends.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation where applicable.
  • Management of Pest Control and the hygiene on site.
  • Conduct and keep Risk assessments up to date.
  • Monitor and keep up to date the COSHH register at all sites.
  • Ensure compliance to Legionella at each site.
  • Ensure compliance to LOLER.
  • Ensure compliance to PUWER.
  • Contractor Management.
  • Hand-arm vibration reviews
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, recommended improvements implemented.
  • Monitor and advise on risk across all sites and to the loading and transport operations.
  • Ensure compliance to Environmental legislation.
  • Conduct environmental assessments to identify potential risks.
  • Monitor environmental waste streams and advise on improvements.

 

Quality Duties

  • Management of instrument calibration
  • Assisting with implementation of Quality Standards
  • Assisting with Third Party Audits
  • Assisting site Quality related meetings

 

Job Requirements

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft programmes is essential.
  • Able to draft works instructions/ procedures.
  • IOSH Qualification (H&S)
  • Internal Auditor
  • Knowledge of ISO9001
